There are over three million active facebook pages, and these pages are gaining millions of new fans every day.
Yes, I just said fans.
Although the button has changed from “Become a fan” to “Like,” the action of joining a brands page remains the same. Facebook pages are still fan pages.
With Facebook’s announcement of The New Messaging there are more reasons to like Facebook, and Facebook pages, than ever.
I hope you enjoy this post about 50 Ways to Get More People to “Like” your Facebook Page, and if you do I would really appreciate it if you share these tips with your friends, and join the FanpageFlow Facebook page.
Here are the 50 tips:
1. Post a Status Update
Post a status update mentioning your facebook page.
Don’t be afraid to outright ask people to join your facebook page. Ask and you shall receive.
Give them a great reason why they should join, tell them news, or find a creative way to mention and link to your page:
2. Get fans to upload and tag photos
If you host (or attend) an event with several of your fans take a bunch of pictures, post them to your page, and then ask your friends to tag themselves in the pictures.
If you can get your fans to upload pictures to your page, or tag themselves in pictures you uploaded, this will post to their walls as well and will lead to additional traffic for you.
3. Offer an incentive for people to sign up
Using custom iframes you can create a dynamic facebook landing page with a “reveal tab” that contains content that is visible only to fans of your page.
The more valuable your incentive is, the more people will be compelled to click the “Like” button to access it.
Examples of exclusive content could be: An exclusive Video, an exclusive whitepaper/.pdf, exclusive pictures.
The image below shows different levels of increasing effectiveness for acquiring new fans.
Involver offers apps (and several of them are totally free) that make it easy to create a “Fan Gate” containing incentives, like a file or coupon, that will cause more people to “Like” your page.
4. Contact admins of groups related to your page
Groups are more powerful than pages in terms of their messaging ability. Pages send updates, but groups send messages directly to a users facebook inbox, triggering an email alert.
If you contact the admin of a facebook group with some valuable content that adds value to their readers then this can help them nurture their community and help you build yours.
5. Get people to join your page via SMS
Send a text message to 32665 (FBOOK) with the words “fan yourusername” OR “like yourusername” (without the quotes).
This feature is ideal when you’re in front of a live audience.
6. Install a page Badge
Facebook Badges are a simple, yet effective way to link to your facebook profile.
Unlike widgets, badges are simply images, and will load much faster.

This post is a collection of some of the best apps, tips, and tricks I have discovered from countless hours of research into facebook and the facebook ecosystem.
If you know of any additional facebook tips and tricks worth sharing let us know in the comments below!
1. Create a Custom Username for your facebook Profile or Page
For example, the custom url of my personal profile is: http://www.facebook.com/garinkilpatrick/
You can customize the URLs of your own facebook profile and pages by surfing to: http://www.facebook.com/username/
If you go to facebook.com/notifications you will be able to choose how you would like to syndicate your status updates, as RSS or Text Messages.
3. Import your Tweets as status updates
With the Twitter app for Facebook. This app will import all tweets as status updates, which may alienate your fb friends with useless @replies if they do not have twitter.
Sendible.com is a site that allows you to import your contacts from a variety of address books, and schedule status updates to multiple networks.
Status updates supported by Sendible include: your Facebook Wall, Facebook Page, and other Social Media sites like Twitter and Linkedin.

The following two Facebook tricks will impress your friends. Try them out, and have some fun!
Facebook Trick #1 – Pirate English
With two simple clicks you can Translate Facebook into Pirate English for a good laugh.
To make the change while logged into Facebook simply go to the footer in the bottom left hand corner of the screen, and click on the English language link:
Once you click this link a pop-up menu will appear and you can select “English (Pirate)” and change your language to pirate english!
After making this change your Facebook Profile will look something like this:
Instead of “Logout” the Pirate translation is “Abandon Ship.” Instead of “Share” the translation says “Divvy spoils t’ all ye mateys.” Yeaarr-harr-harr!
Facebook Trick #2 – How to: Change The Color of Facebook
By using the Firefox web browser (hands down the best web browser on the planet), the Greasemonkey Add-on, and this userscript you are able to change the colors of Facebook to anything you wish.
To change Facebook’s colors follow these steps:
- Make sure you are using the Firefox browser.
- Make sure you have the Greasemonkey add-on installed (this requires restarting your browser).
- When you have Firefox and Greasemonkey, go to this Facebook colour changer userscript page and click the install button at the top right of the page.
- Click to confirm that you wish to install the script, and it will be installed.
- Now, when viewing any page on Facebook simply go to ‘Tools’, ‘Greasemonkey’, ‘Userscript Commands…’ and then ‘Customise facebook colours…’. See the image below for help with this. (Alternatively the same menu can be shown when right-clicking on the monkey on the bottom right).
- Select the colours you’d like facebook to be, click “Set!”, and you’re done!
Obsessed with Facebook Infographic

Although this infographic is fairly new, it’s stats are off.
It claims that there are 500 million Facebook users (or one in every 13 humans) when actually that number is closer to 585 million, and there are some reports that suggest Facebook has already surpassed the 600 million mark.
One stat that really struck me is that 57% of people talk to people more online than they do in person!
Let us know what you think the most staggering stat from this infographic is in the comments below!
